Cute Bird End Table

I love all the decorative hand painted furniture I see on blogland lately.  These people have some serious TALENT!    I thought to myself.... "I  can do this!"  I didn't want to dive in a huge piece and screw it up chance having to repaint it due to my not so steady hand. I searched for some images online, and settled on a small pair of birds. I mixed up some homemade chalk paint in a light blue and painted the piece is two coats. Then I got to work with the image.  That looked easy enough......

Here is the  BEFORE:

She was quite scuffed up and I had nothing to lose right? Okay so here she is....

Okay so she isn't the grandest in blogland but I thing she turned out pretty cute for my first try!   I definitely think that I will try again with some decorative painting!
What do you think? Go easy on me! ;) lol

Lovely in Lilac

I never thought I would be scared of color. I mean who doesn't love bold statement pieces?
But when a customer wanted a HUGE china cabinet in her dining room painted LILAC,  I'll have to admit,..... I kinda freaked. I was scared it would look like a big BARNEY in her room!
BOY WAS I WRONG. This piece turned out so stunning that I will never again questions a bold color choice. EVER. I am glad we decided to go way darker purple inside. It really set the piece off. See for yourself...

Beautifying a Buffet!

I love it when clients love their pieces and come back for more! My fabulous client Rachel, was on the lookout for a buffet that I could paint to match her dining set that I painted for her last year.
I found this drab dark dresser/buffet and knew it would be perfect. I painted her up in Annie Sloan's Old White chalk paint same as her table and re stained the top in Ebony. I think she turned out fabulous....

In an effort to get my home decorated for Easter I had to get thrifty! Check out these cute projects we threw together!

This was from the first round of thrifting, found some cute owls, birds and candle holders!

Cute owls! UGLY color! (I'll fix that)

Cute little birds needing an update...

Enter a bit of turquoise, yellow and white spray paint!

Add a bit of heavy duty apoxy to some dollar store vases and glass candle stick holders and you get apothecary jars!

Here I added a thrift store white candle stick to a dollar store plate to make a cake pedestal.

Some simple brass candle sticks added a pop of color for my dyed Easter Eggs!  (found those at a thrift store for $3.50 for the set of 6. SCORE!)

Another brass candle stick plus a couple of glass holders....

Dollar Store bowl and plate plus a thrifted glass candle holder.....CHIP AND DIP Bowl!

Thrifted glass canisters and candle sticks created a set of apothecary jars for my bathroom!

Racin' Stripes!

My son thinks he's grown now, and he decided (at 11yrs old) that he needs a "man cave".
WHAT???!!!
He wants a futon and a coffee table! HA! HA!
Maybe he'll do his homework on it without me asking him THREE TIMES?
*sigh ......a mother can only wish. ;)
I started his "man cave" by transforming his bookshelf/cabinet with some racin' stripes!
I tried out a recipe I found HERE on making my own chalk paint. Worked GREAT! (I used the Calcium Carbonate)

He thinks they are pretty cool...errr.....manly?

We'll see about the futon! ;)
