Two Tone "Old White" Dresser

I am really, really in love with this Chalk Paint. My favorite color is "Old White". Its so creamy and classy looking. Here is one of the first large projects I did with Old White. This was a Bassett Dresser, very well made and the bow front was gorgeous. I knew it would look great painted Old White! A little Oil Rubbed Bronze on the handles....light distressing. Gorgeous!

Here she was BEFORE:

The distressing really brougth out the details of this piece!

I just love the look of the stained top and painted base. Timeless!

2 Chair Reupholstery Projects

I wanted to quickly show you a couple of older chair upcycles that I did a while back in the summer that I just LOVED.  I used the same fabric for both and I think the black and white is totally classy!

The first one is a pair of office chairs with casters. This was one of the first upholstery projects that I did. I was fairly easy and I think they turned out FAB!

Side by side After and Before:

BEFORE:

EWW!

AFTER!

This next one is a side chair I scored at a local auction. She was quite nasty with stained fabric and beat up frame. But she has pretty curved legs and caned back. Here is her BEFORE:

With a bit of paint and a freshly covered seat she is very  GLAMOROUS now!!

I really like to freshen up these side chairs! SO FUN!

Upholstered Headboard Tutorial!

I tried my hand at some minor upholstery on this project. I have done some light upholstery before and knew I’d ace these projects. A client named Amy (sweetest lady I ever met) ordered a pair of full size headboards for her two girls’ rooms. I scored these headboards at a local yard sale. I loved the curves and details of them! And the two high posts were awesome. They had 3! I of course snatched them up. She knew she wanted one black and one white! After a bit of delay and a minor fabric mishap I got them DONE!
Here is the BEFORE:

I painted the frames first (after some major sanding, scraping and priming) and sealed with a satin poly. The upholstery was a bit tricky but once we got the first one under our belt the second one was a breeze! We first laid the headboard out flat and placed batting over the headboard and laid the fabric on top. We trimmed up the fabric and batting a bit around the edges but not too much that you lose some inches when stapling. Then we stapled down both sides first to be sure it was even then started up one end towards the top making sure to staple close together and as close to the frame as we could get being careful not to scratch the paint. We had to trim the fabric and batting as we went because it would get bound up too tight around the details. It went fairly quickly with two sets of hands to pull tight!

Once the stapling was done we made sure all the excess fabric was trimmed away with a utility knife. We stapled the fabric underneth and screwed in a bottom wooden slat the finish out the bottom.

Next we trimmed it out with decorative rope border. This trim bends so easily around all the details of these pieces! We simply used hot glue to secure the trim making sure it covered the staples completely. Look how nice they turned out!

Sewed the matching fabric for the cabinet insert too!

Can you say FABULOUS??!

I think I’ll upholster the third one for my spare bedroom!

Green Media Cabinet Transformation

This vintage radio cabinet we bought at a local Estate Sale. She was already converted and the original radio parts were already gutted. It was custom ordered by a fabulous client named Holly!

BEFORE:

I love that Holly isn’t afraid of some COLOR! I really loved putting this color on this piece. It is so vibrant and FUN! We kept the original hardware and sealed it with poly. Now she serves as a media cabinet! PERFECT!

Turquoise Headboard

My bedroom redo is coming along SLOWLY. But I finally finished my turquoise headboard! You are going to have to believe me when I say it was UGLY. We pulled it out of the back of a dusty barn auction for 5 bucks!!! I am sorry the pic is horrible and its the brown one BEHIND this headboard! Sorry it’s the only pic that I have! Can you see it??

Anyways we are doing my bedroom in Grey & White with a pop of Turquoise! So we decided the headboard need the POP! We used SPRAY PAINT! Yes spray paint. I love me some Krylon! We put several coats of Polycrylic in Satin on top for protection. I think it WORKS! What do you think?

Paris Gray Dresser Redo!

I have been hanging onto this dresser for 4 years now. We used it in all of its Salmon colored glory!
She had good "bones" and she was solid wood. I loved her little legs and original hardware.
Here is her BEFORE:

Yes SALMON! UGH!
We took the top down to the bare wood and put an Ebony stain on. Then we painted her in Annie Sloan "Paris Gray" . We painted her hardware in Oil Rubbed Bronze and put a clear wax on the whole piece. Her transformation is STUNNING!

This one is a keeper and now sits proud in my room.
I LOVE HER
