A girl needs her BLING...

I wanted to share this vanity upcycle... I really, really couldn't believe how well she turned out. This was one of my very first projects I tackled when I started altering furniture.

It was my first time using a glaze, and distressing! eekk!.
This is her before.
The hardware was ugly and one was missing.
She was screaming for some BLING anyways!
So she got her new jewelry from Hobby Lobby.

I tried to keep her, but hubby said no. GRRRRRR
So she went on Craigslist and she got a new home. I miss her.

LIAR LIAR!

This dresser redo came out so fabulous that you'd never believe this before picture! Check it out...

Ignore the poor picture quality! I am working with an iphone camera only! :/

The finish was HIDEOUS! It had the little black specks all over it......wasn't sure I could reuse the hardware, and there was a pull missing. I almost didn't buy it, ALMOST.. :)
I have to admit I have a weakness for dressers, any dresser, any style, all of them.
I sanded it down sprayed the bottom with Kilz (of course) and took the top all the way down to bare wood.

I had visions for this piece right when I saw her. Dark top, painted body, gorgeous! The hardware was sprayed with Oil Rubbed Bronze and just POPPED against the light Ivory! We reattached the metal inserts, and the pulls just happened. They were already the prefect color, they fit over the existing decals  and I got them for a buck a piece at a discount hardware store. It was meant to be!
Check out her new digs!!!

 Yes its the same dresser.
Yes I am sure.
Really, it is.
I pinky swear.

Old Farm Piece Redo!

So we found this little cabinet in an old barn in East Texas. It didn't have a top when we dug it out of a corner. It was pretty disgustin'.  We think it may have been the bottom of an old hutch or possibly a built in? I dunno whatcha think?

So it sat in my workshop for a few months, sad and lonely wishing someone would make her beautiful again! Then a sweet lady named Debbie saw her potential! She knew she had to have her and knew exactly what she wanted her makeover to be! She wanted her deep RED with a dark walnut top.  So I set to work! I pulled her out, cleaned her off, sanded her down and primed her up. She had lots of rustic charms including wormholes and all! She was in pretty rough shape and quite old......

 WORMHOLES!

She got several coats of paint, light distressing and an antique glaze that just makes her details POP! Her original hardware is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!
UNFORTUNATLY I cannot show a final product yet! She is picking her up on Saturday and she hasn't seen it yet! SOWWY! But I WILL show a sneak peek teaser! READY? HUH?

TADA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Her color is FAB right??  I will be showing the final "After" pic on Saturday! Don't forget to check it out!

Brand New Week! Brand New Projects!

I just thought I would share a few projects I was working on in the workshop today! Man it was HOT! Gotta love this Texas heat. 101 degrees today! Cooler than last week! ;)
Primed and painted up a few mirror projects! LUV LUV those colors!

Also finished up this funky little tray! The color is Night Tide by Rustoleum. And the fabric is a furry little zebra print I have had for a while and was coveting! I can't remember where I got it and I only had a little 2 foot piece! I finally broke down and used it. It was just perfect for this little tray! This piece will be going on ETSY today!

Check back this week for lots of finished projects!

What Was I Thinking?!!!

My vision for this vintage sewing machine table seemed to be quite clear in my head..... crisp apple green, with classy black vinyl appliques. So I went to work.
I removed the sewing machine, sanded and primed with my fav Kilz primer.

excuse my poor iphone pic quality! :/

I painted the table a pretty shade of satin apple green. It was great!.....and PLAIN BORRRRRING..
I needed something. So I busted out the vinyl appliques I had stashed from a previous trip to IKEA.
Stuck those bad boys on!

I loved the color contrast of the green and black. I thought I was all done! Closed the workshop up for the night ready to put a coat of poly on in the morning.
I arrived the next day to find the vinyl peeling up around the edges...grrrrr
All I had to do was peel the vinyl off and add apoxy to keep them in place right?.....
WRONG!!!!
I peeled off a piece of the vinyl and the entire applique took the paint off with it!! I was HORRIFIED!
My heart sank and I wanted to light a match throw the thing away.  Then my husband walked in, and said "wow that's pretty cool"
...WHAT THA?? Bless his heart!!
Then I looked at the wood grain showing thru and I realized that it was cool....my husband WAS right! (for once) :)
I ran with it and decided to distress the heck out of it and put on an antique glaze and see what happens! I added a cute knob from Hobby Lobby and with my eyes wide shut I poly-ed it and called it done! What do you think???

I am pretty smitten... :)
